PHP CONSULTANCY
PHP consultancy and services
Eight ways we work with PHP, from rescuing a stalled build to hosting the thing for the next ten years. Start with the problem you have today — the first call is 30 minutes and costs nothing.
What we do
Most engagements start as one of these and turn into two. Pick whichever describes today.
Upgrade legacy PHP
PHP 8.1 and earlier no longer get security fixes, and 8.2 loses them on 31 December 2026. We move applications up version by version, with tests.
Project rescue
A build that has stalled, or a codebase nobody can maintain. Audit first, then a fixed scope to a working release you control.
Custom development
Applications, portals, CRM and e-commerce for processes that no off-the-shelf product models properly.
CMS development
WordPress, Drupal and bespoke content management your editors can run without raising a ticket.
Migration
Moving content, users, URLs and integrations off a platform that no longer fits, without losing your rankings.
Support and maintenance
Someone who knows your codebase on an agreed response time, including the updates that prevent emergencies.
Managed hosting
Infrastructure run by the people who maintain your code, with patching, backups and PHP versions handled.
Recruitment
PHP developers placed into your team when you would rather build the capability in-house than outsource it.
Not sure which one you need?
Most people are not, and that is what the first call is for.
01
A 30-minute call
You describe the system and what is going wrong. We tell you on the call whether we are the right team for it, and which of the eight it actually is.
02
Audit
Where the answer is not obvious from a conversation, we read the code and write up what we find.
03
Fixed proposal
Scope, sequence and cost in writing, agreed before any development starts.
04
Delivery
Two-week sprints with working software at the end of each, then support if you want it.

Questions we get asked
We are not sure whether we need an upgrade or a rebuild. Can you tell us?
That is the most common question we get, and it is what the audit answers. A rebuild is right when the application no longer matches how the business works — not simply because the PHP version is old.
Do you work with organisations that already have developers?
Yes. A lot of our work sits alongside an in-house team, either adding capacity or bringing PHP depth they do not have. That means agreeing standards, review and branching up front.
What size of organisation do you usually work with?
Both ends. We have worked with major publishers, banks and local authorities, and with small businesses where one application is the whole operation. The process is the same; the scale of it is not.
Can you take over from another supplier?
Yes, and it is worth starting with the audit so you know what you are inheriting before the handover rather than after it.
How quickly can you start?
Depends on the size. An audit can usually start within a couple of weeks; a full delivery team takes longer to assemble. The call will give you a realistic answer rather than an optimistic one.
What does the first call cost?
Nothing. It is 30 minutes with a developer on it, and its purpose is to work out whether there is a project here at all.
