CONTENT MANAGEMENT
PHP CMS development
WordPress, Drupal and bespoke content management built in PHP — so your editors can publish without raising a ticket, and your developers are not stuck maintaining somebody else’s abandoned plugin.
Which CMS is actually right for you?
We are not tied to one platform, so the honest answer is usually the cheapest one to run. Here is how we decide.
WordPress
The right answer most of the time: your editors already know it, the ecosystem is enormous and hosting is cheap. We build custom themes and block components rather than bending a bought template until it breaks.
Drupal
Where the content model is complex and the permissions matter — many content types, many roles, many sites. Heavier to run, but it holds structure that WordPress has to be forced into.
A bespoke PHP CMS
When the content model is the product: a rights database, a product catalogue, a member directory. Built on Laravel or Symfony, with an editing interface shaped around how your team actually works.
What we build into a CMS
The work that decides whether your team enjoys using the thing in a year.
Custom themes and blocks
Block editor components your team can compose pages from, instead of a page builder nobody can maintain.
Editorial workflow
Draft, review and approval that matches how your organisation actually signs content off, with roles to match.
Headless and API-first
Content served over an API to an app, a shopfront or a second site, with the CMS as the single source of truth.
E-commerce
WooCommerce and custom checkouts, integrated with the stock, pricing and finance systems you already run.
Multi-site and multi-language
One estate, many sites and languages, with shared components and governance instead of copies that drift.
Plugins and modules
Maintained code you own, built to replace the abandoned plugin that is holding your upgrade hostage.
Content modelling and migration
Getting the structure right before the move, so the new CMS is not the old mess in a new skin.
Performance and caching
Page and object caching, image handling and query work, measured against Core Web Vitals rather than a feeling.
How a CMS project runs
You see working software every two weeks, not a demo at the end.
01
Content modelling
We map what you publish, who signs it off and where it goes, before choosing a platform. This is the step most projects skip and regret.
02
Build
Custom theme or application, in two-week sprints, on a staging site your editors can log into and try from sprint one.
03
Migration and training
Content moved with URLs and redirects intact, then a session with the people who will use it daily.
04
Support
Core, plugin and PHP updates handled on a plan, so the site does not quietly drift out of support.

CMS questions we get asked
Should we use WordPress or something custom?
WordPress unless there is a reason not to. It is cheaper to run, easier to hire for, and your editors already know it. We recommend custom when the content model is genuinely the product and forcing it into WordPress would cost more than building it properly.
Can you work with our existing WordPress site?
Yes. Taking over an inherited WordPress build is routine: we audit the theme, the plugins and the PHP version first, then tell you what is safe to keep.
Do you build with the block editor or a page builder?
The block editor, with custom blocks. Page builders are quick to start and expensive to live with, because the layout ends up locked inside the plugin rather than in your theme.
Can the CMS feed a mobile app or a separate front end?
Yes. We build headless where it earns its place, with the CMS serving content over an API to whatever front end needs it.
Who owns the code?
You do. Repositories, documentation and environments are handed over as part of the work, not held as leverage.
Do you handle hosting and updates afterwards?
Yes, on a support plan that includes core, plugin and PHP version updates, so the site stays on a supported runtime.
