MANAGED PHP HOSTING

Managed PHP hosting

Hosting run by the people who maintain your code, sized for what your application actually does — with the PHP version, the patching and the backups treated as our job rather than a line in your risk register.

What “managed” is actually buying you

Hosting is cheap. What costs money is the work that sits on top of it, and who is responsible when it is not done.

Shared hosting

A few pounds a month, somebody else’s noisy neighbours, and a PHP version you do not get to choose. Fine for a brochure site, painful for anything with a database under real load.

Unmanaged cloud or VPS

Full control, and the patching, the monitoring and the three-in-the-morning alert are all yours. Cheaper on the invoice, expensive in the hours nobody counts.

Managed hosting

The server is ours to patch, monitor and back up, and the application is ours to keep on a supported PHP version. One number to call when something is wrong.

What is included

The work that only becomes visible on the day it was not done.

Sized for the application

Resources set against how your application actually behaves under load, not a package tier chosen from a table.

PHP version management

Kept on a version that still receives security fixes, with the upgrade planned rather than forced by an outage.

OS and stack patching

Operating system, web server and database patched on a schedule, with the risky ones tested on staging first.

Backups that restore

Taken daily and periodically restored into a test environment, because a backup nobody has restored is a hope.

Monitoring and alerting

Uptime, resource use, error rates and certificate expiry watched, with alerts going to us before they reach you.

SSL and certificates

Issued, installed and renewed automatically, so nobody discovers an expiry on a Saturday morning.

Staging environment

A copy of production to test changes and upgrades against, refreshed from live when you need it.

UK and EU regions

Hosted in the region your data has to stay in, which matters for public-sector and regulated buyers.

Moving your hosting to us

Nothing points at the new server until you have seen the site running on it.

01

Audit

What is running now: PHP version, extensions, cron jobs, mail, certificates and the integrations nobody documented.

02

Build

The environment built and configured to match, with staging alongside it from the start.

03

Copy and test

Files, database and media copied over, then tested against real journeys rather than a homepage load.

04

Cutover

DNS lowered ahead of time and switched in a window you choose, with the old server kept warm as a rollback.

Hosting questions

Do we have to move our hosting to use you for support?

No. We support applications on other people’s infrastructure regularly. It is simpler when hosting and support sit together, because there is nobody to point at, but it is not a condition.

Will there be downtime when we move?

Normally none that a visitor would notice. We lower the DNS TTL in advance, copy and test everything on the new environment first, and switch in a window you choose with the old server kept warm.

Which PHP version will we be on?

A supported one, and we will tell you before you sign if your application cannot run on one yet. Getting there may be a piece of upgrade work rather than a hosting change — that is a separate conversation, not a surprise invoice.

Can you handle traffic spikes?

Yes, and the honest answer depends on the application. Some scale by adding resources, some need caching or query work first. The audit tells you which of the two you have before you pay for capacity that will not help.

Where is the data held?

In the UK or EU region you need. If a procurement questionnaire requires data residency in writing, we can put it in writing.

What access do we get?

Your own access to the environment and the code, plus the staging site. You are not locked out of your own infrastructure.
